You can either do stuff, or write about doing stuff. People who spend all their time writing about doing stuff are to be distrusted. People who do stuff harder so they might have time to write are to be trusted extra.
I'm guilty of enjoying this waltz down memory lane inside in order to avoid working out in the heat. I salve my conscience by remembering I made my daughter walk the 'hundred yards or so to the road to check the mail earlier today. It took her twenty minutes because the chokecherries are ripening and she ate her body weight before she got back. Shameless dad brag?
For my penance this week, I'll be getting up extra early to clear brush before it gets "too hot" while wearing three layers to combat the ticks and chiggers.
It is so damn miserable right now. I cleaned some gutters on the barn yesterday afternoon. Some of our downspouts into the cisterns were blocked. But hauling around a ladder and climbing up and down when it was 98, might not have been the wisest. I resolve to hibernate today, after I go get that free load of mulch, that is.
Ticks and chiggers are proof that nature bats last.
